Welsh Cakes are a delicious combination of a Scone, a Cookie and a Pancake. These lovely little cakes are griddled in extra fine sugar making these amazing cakes slightly crispy or crunchy on the outside and soft and flakey on the inside. Welsh Cakes are also known as Welsh Cookies and are commonly called Bakestones in Wales due to the way that they are griddled. Traditionally made with dried Black Currants and a British spice called Mace or A British Mixed Spice. Novel Pastries uses a Special season blend from the Boston Spice Company called "The British are Coming". Due to their popularity, there are now many variations of the Welsh Cakes. Chocolate Chip Welsh Cakes are one of our variations offered year round.
